The Master’s Programme in International Relations “China and Global Affairs” is a 2-year Master’s Degree programme tailored for international students. It provides an in-depth view of a wide range of issues on the global governance and China’s diplomacy on both bilateral and multilateral basis. The programme takes an analytical approach to China’s role and practices in the fast-transforming world unseen in a century, inter alia, the Three Global Initiatives (GSI, GDI, GCI), the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global South etc. It equips students with theoretical, analytical and practical abilities and skills to understand the ‘Chinese path to modernization’ and to explore the world which has become a highly interdependent community with a shared future for all.
The programme brings together the knowledge and expertise of the School of International Studies and diverse teams in Social Sciences and Humanities of the Nanjing University. The School of International Studies, founded in 2021, has a time-honored tradition in political and international studies dating to the 1920s. The SIS offers a full-fledged education granting Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees, and enjoys a wide reputation for its quality discipline in International Politics. The faculty dedicated to the MIR programme possesses PhD degrees and visiting scholar experiences from world-class universities, including Harvard University, Waseda University, Sciences Po Paris, Lomonosov Moscow State University, University of Amsterdam and Seoul National University. The programme also draws on academic resources and think-tank platforms in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province and the Yangtze River Delta.
