Applied biology is the basic study of life phenomenon of various crop resources and organisms such as insect, fungi, bacteria, virus and the search for the efficient use of resources and demonstration of the relationship between the environment and organisms. This is designed to study environment-friendly biotechnology and is a field of applied science that stabilizes the harvest of crops and maximizes the production of crop resources by establishing the integrated pest management(IPM) to prevent or heal the damage of harmful insects and plant pathogen. The curricula consist of basic programs and applied courses. In the former programs, students learn physiology and the pathologic phenomena of plants, insects, and microorganism, and taxonomy, ecology, physiology, heredity, pathology of the harmful organisms that damage crops, based on which students do practical research by the high tech biotechnology of biochemistry and molecular biology. The applied courses provide the science to prevent plant diseases, manage the control of vermin, the efficient resources of bacteria and insects, studies of beneficial bacillus, insects and resourceful plants. By introducing beneficial resource plants and genetic engineering with biotechnological techniques, this program teaches how to prevent vermin, to preserve the environment and to improve it.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
