The Master’s in Robotics and Mechanical Engineering at Muroran Institute of Technology’s Graduate School of Engineering is offered through its Mechanical Robotics Engineering / Mechanical Engineering fields as part of the broader Master of Engineering degree, focusing on advanced study and research in mechanical systems, robotics, automation and associated technologies that underpin modern manufacturing and intelligent machines. This program builds on a foundation of core mechanical engineering principles — such as dynamics, mechanics, materials, design, and system integration — and extends them into robotics and automation applications by emphasizing robot design, mechatronics, control systems, and system integration that are essential for next-generation industrial and service robots. Students engage in graduate-level coursework, laboratory research and project-based investigations that deepen their expertise in the design, analysis, fabrication and control of robotics systems and mechanical devices, preparing them to contribute to innovation in industrial automation, autonomous machines, infrastructure robotics and connected systems. The curriculum supports development of both theoretical knowledge and practical skills through supervised research culminating in a master’s thesis, enabling graduates to pursue advanced engineering roles in industry or continue on to doctoral study. The program leverages the university’s strengths in mechanical and robotics research and prepares students to address challenges such as automation for labor-saving technologies and integrated robotics applications in diverse environments.
