The Crop Genetics and Breeding program at Nanjing Agricultural University is an undergraduate major within the Agronomy/Crop Science discipline that focuses on the scientific principles of heredity, genetic improvement and development of superior crop varieties to meet national food security and agricultural sustainability goals. The curriculum integrates genetics, plant breeding, molecular biology, genomics, germplasm resources and modern biotechnologies to help students understand how desirable traits such as yield, quality, resistance and adaptability are inherited and can be enhanced through both traditional and modern breeding methods. Students gain hands-on experience in genetic analysis, breeding techniques, field evaluation, and laboratory research, preparing them to participate in the innovation, evaluation and application of new crop varieties. Graduates are well-equipped for careers in crop breeding programs, agricultural research institutions, seed industry and germplasm conservation, where they contribute to improving crop performance, cultivar development and sustainable agricultural production.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
