The Plant Pathology program at Nanjing Agricultural University is an agricultural life‑science discipline dedicated to the study of plant diseases and the biological, environmental and management factors that influence plant health. The curriculum combines core knowledge in plant pathology, microbiology, mycology, virology, nematology and host–pathogen interactions with practical training in disease diagnosis, epidemic forecasting, pathogen biology and integrated disease control technologies. Students learn how plant pathogens (such as fungi, bacteria, viruses and nematodes) infect crops, how diseases develop under varied environmental conditions, and how to design effective strategies for disease prevention, control and sustainable crop protection. Through classroom instruction, laboratory experiments and field research, the program equips students with both theoretical foundations and hands‑on skills needed to assess plant health and develop scientifically sound solutions. Graduates are prepared for careers in crop protection, plant disease research, agricultural extension services, seed health testing, plant quarantine and phytosanitary agencies, as well as opportunities in biotechnology companies and research institutions working on plant health and sustainable agriculture. The discipline supports efforts to enhance crop productivity, reduce yield losses and promote environmentally responsible disease management.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
