Program Description

The Master’s Degree in “Antichità classiche e orientali” equips second-level graduates with advancedscientific and methodological expertise in various fields of antiquity: Greek, Latin and the Middle-East. Consequently, graduates shall be able to interpret literary, historical, cultural and material related to their specific disciplinary area with critical awareness.
The training includes advanced courses, both lectures and seminars, organized in different curricula, which integrate a solid base preparation in classics with the achievement of more specific and high training objectives, in the fields of: linguistic, philological and historical-literary analysis texts in Greek and Latin; socio-economic history of the Greco-Roman world; and history, languages and cultures of the Middle Eastern area (Anatolia, Syria, Mesopotamia) in the pre-classical period.

Career opportunities

The methodological, exegetical and critical skills acquired during the Master’s Degree course in Antichità classiche e orientali prepare the teaching activity in upper secondary schools, once the training course required by current legislation is completed, as well as research activity in the university and at the related institutions.
The employability of Master’s graduates may also extend to management functions in libraries, archives and musea, as well as and the performance of high-level professional activities in the fields of training, promotion, organization, information, publishing, communication and cultural tourism. Graduates will also have the knowledge and preparation necessary to undertake a direct path to become journalist.
