The Master’s in Geology at Chang'an University is a postgraduate program designed to provide advanced academic and research-oriented training in the study of Earth’s structure, composition, and geological processes. The program develops in-depth knowledge in areas such as mineralogy, petrology, structural geology, sedimentology, hydrogeology, and geological mapping, enabling students to analyze geological formations and assess natural resource potential as well as environmental conditions for engineering applications. Its curriculum integrates theoretical coursework with laboratory research, field investigations, and geological data analysis to enhance professional competencies in geological interpretation, resource evaluation, and environmental assessment. Emphasis is placed on applying geological knowledge to support infrastructure development, disaster prevention, and sustainable resource management. Graduates are well prepared for careers in geological survey organizations, mining and energy enterprises, environmental consulting firms, and research institutions, or for pursuing doctoral studies in geology or related Earth science disciplines.
Research Field:
Mineralogy, Petrology, Mineral Deposit Geology, Geochemistry, Paleontology and Stratigraphy (including Quaternary Geology), Tectonics Geology, Geo-Information System.
