The PhD in Electrical Engineering is rooted in the university’s historic and highly regarded electrical discipline, which traces its origins to the former Department of Electrical Engineering established in 1950 and now functions as a first-level doctoral programme with strong research and teaching platforms. The doctoral curriculum combines advanced coursework, independent research and dissertation work under faculty supervision, focusing on theoretical and applied aspects of electrical engineering, such as power systems and automation, power electronics and drives, high-voltage and insulation technology, electric machinery and apparatus, control theory and new electrical technologies.
