The PhD program trains students to become high-level researchers, innovators and engineering experts in safety science, risk management, hazard prevention and emergency response. Doctoral study includes advanced theoretical coursework, independent research and dissertation work focused on complex problems in industrial safety, mine ventilation, accident risk analysis, intelligent safety systems, occupational health, emergency management, fire and explosion prevention, human factors engineering and related interdisciplinary areas. Candidates engage deeply with cutting-edge methodologies and technologies to analyse, model and improve safety systems across sectors with high accident risk.
