The Ph.D. in Botany at Lanzhou University is a research-oriented doctoral program offered under the Biological Sciences discipline through the School of Life Sciences, which builds on a long history of plant science education and research at the university dating back to the original Department of Botany and Zoology established in the mid-20th century.
This doctoral program focuses on deep scientific inquiry into plant biology, aiming to develop scholars with advanced theoretical foundations and strong experimental capabilities in the study of plant life. Doctoral candidates undertake independent, original research in areas such as plant physiology and development, plant molecular biology and genetics, plant ecology, plant systematics and evolution, and plant responses to environmental stressors, integrating molecular, cellular, and organismal approaches. Students are trained to use modern research techniques and field-based methods to explore plant structure, function, growth and adaptation in both natural and agricultural systems.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
