The Bioengineering major at Nanjing Normal University is an undergraduate program that integrates biology, engineering, and technology to train students in the application of engineering principles to biological systems. The curriculum covers foundational life sciences—such as cell biology, genetics, and biochemistry—alongside core engineering subjects including biomedical engineering fundamentals, biomaterials, bioprocess technology, and bioinstrumentation. Students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills through laboratory training, experimental design, and interdisciplinary projects that address real-world challenges in healthcare, biotechnology, and biological systems engineering. Emphasis is placed on developing technologies for medical diagnostics, tissue engineering, biomanufacturing, and biological data analysis, as well as understanding the ethical and safety considerations of engineering living systems. Graduates are prepared for careers in biomedical research and development, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, medical device design, quality control, and related sectors, as well as for further study in bioengineering and advanced life-science disciplines.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
