The Dancology (Dance Studies) major at Nanjing Normal University is an undergraduate program that combines artistic expression, theoretical study, and cultural understanding of dance. The curriculum trains students in both practical dance skills—such as technique, choreography, performance, and movement training—and academic knowledge including dance history, dance aesthetics, dance criticism, and cultural studies of dance. Students receive comprehensive instruction in various dance styles, body conditioning, stage performance, and creative choreography, while also learning to analyse dance as a form of artistic communication and cultural expression. Emphasis is placed on developing artistic creativity, expressive ability, and professional performance capability, supported by coursework, studio practice, and performance opportunities. Graduates are prepared for careers as dancers, choreographers, dance educators, artistic directors, cultural programme organisers, and dance researchers, as well as for further study in dance, performing arts, and related disciplines.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
