The Geographical Information Science major at Nanjing Normal University is an undergraduate program that focuses on the collection, analysis, visualization, and application of geospatial data to understand and solve spatial problems. The curriculum combines foundational geographic knowledge with advanced training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, surveying, spatial data science, and cartographic visualization. Students learn how to design and manage geospatial databases, analyse spatial patterns, model geographic processes, and apply geospatial technologies in real-world contexts such as environmental monitoring, urban and regional planning, natural resource management, disaster risk reduction, and public policy decision-making. The program emphasizes both theoretical understanding and hands-on experience with contemporary tools and software, preparing graduates for careers as GIS specialists, remote sensing analysts, spatial data scientists, and geospatial technology professionals in government agencies, environmental consultancies, research institutions, and private sector firms, as well as for further study in geospatial sciences and related fields.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
