The Western Economics program at Wuhan University of Technology is an undergraduate social science major that focuses on the fundamental theories, analytical methods and institutional frameworks of modern Western economic thought and practice. The curriculum covers core subjects such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, international trade, monetary theory, economic policy analysis and market systems, while also introducing students to quantitative tools like econometrics, statistical analysis and economic modelling to evaluate real-world economic issues. Through rigorous coursework, case studies and empirical research, students develop critical thinking, analytical reasoning and data interpretation skills that enable them to understand how markets operate, how economic policies affect growth and welfare, and how global economic forces shape business and government decision-making. Graduates are prepared for careers in economic analysis, finance, consulting, policy research, international business and public sector planning, as well as for further advanced study in economics, business and related social science fields.
