The BA Applied English programme is for those interested in studying English as a subject matter in its own right. Students in the programme will become knowledgeable of the many ways in which English, and more broadly, languages are used around the world today. Subjects are offered in the areas of linguistics, literature and translation studies. Aside from being a platform for the development of intellectual faculties, the programme provides ample opportunity for students to engage in the application of their learning. This is done, for instance, through the practice of translation and interpreting. Applied English students will acquire a range of skills transferrable not only to work such as language teaching, translation and interpreting, and editing, but also many settings requiring the ability to identify and deal with real-world problems in an innovative manner.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
