The school was established in May 2003 with the approval of the Ministry of Education and a document issued by the Hubei Provincial People's Government, through the merger of the former Jianghan Petroleum Institute, Hubei Agricultural College, Jingzhou Teachers College, and Hubei Provincial Health Workers Medical College. The predecessor of the former Jianghan Petroleum Institute was the Beijing Petroleum Industry College, founded in 1950. It began offering undergraduate education in 1978 and was affiliated with China National Petroleum Corporation. From 2000 onwards, it was jointly managed by the central and local governments and transferred to the administration of Hubei Province. The predecessor of the former Hubei Agricultural College was the Jingzhou Branch of Huazhong Agricultural College, founded in 1977 and approved as a regular undergraduate institution by the State Education Commission in 1989. The predecessor of the former Jingzhou Teachers College was the Hubei Fourth District Simple Normal School, founded in 1936. It was renamed the Jingzhou Branch of Huazhong Normal College in 1977 and was restructured into Jingzhou Teachers College with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 1999. The predecessor of Hubei Provincial Health Workers Medical College was Hubei Shashi Health School, which was founded in 1951. In 1977, it was renamed Jingzhou Branch of Wuhan Medical College, and in 1984, it was renamed Hubei Provincial Health Workers Medical College.

General Policy Statement:
1. Book online in advance: Each school may has a different booking method, so the accommodation intention should be submitted and replied to CUCAS promptly by applicants. For other school, a deposit or accommodation fee is required at the time of booking, so applicants can book by self; If need help from the CUCAS, the 20% service fee for transferring fee is need be to charged.

3. First come, first served: Unavailable to book in advance. (1)The room is guaranteed, but the first come may choose the type first. (2) The room is limited.
4. NO on-campus accommodation: Students are required to rent off campus.
