The programme provides sound knowledge in astrophysics, cosmology and space physics. Bologna is a leading scientific hub, where the expertise of the Department's teaching staff combines with that of various research institutes: the Observatory of Astrophysics and Space Science (OAS), the Institute of Radio Astronomy (IRA) and the headquarters of the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA).
During the programme, you will explore the fundamental physical processes involved in the formation and evolution of the Universe, building on the physical-mathematical skills you have acquired. The programme teaches you to analyse observational data and provides numerical skills for modelling and simulation, preparing you for data interpretation. You will tackle advanced topics and will be encouraged to solve problems with teachers and researchers.
The programme offers the possibility of conducting examinations and activities abroad both within the framework of the Erasmus agreements and for internships and completion of your thesis. These experiences are an excellent opportunity for cultural enrichment and will put you into direct contact with leading research institutes and universities.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements.
