The University of Tsukuba was established in October 1973 as a comprehensive university characterized by "an open university," "new systems for education and research," and "new university autonomy," taking advantage of the opportunity presented by the relocation of the Tokyo University of Education to the university to respond to various domestic and international demands while preserving its good traditions and distinctive features. What are the University of Tsukuba's residence halls?

Student Residence Halls have been established to offer its students excellent study environment along with the opportunity to experience autonomous civic life. For the other housing options, accommodation for short-term students (Short Stay House) has been installed in April, 2016, and shared accommodations (Global Village), which focuses on international exchange, commenced its operation on April 1, 2017.

To get to the University of Tsukuba from a major airport, take a direct bus to "Tsukuba Center" from Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND) airports, as these are the most convenient gateways, with NRT being closer to Tsukuba city than central Tokyo itself, offering simpler direct connections over longer train journeys from Tokyo's core. From Tsukuba Center, it's a short local bus ride or taxi to the university campus.

From Narita Airport (NRT)

Airport Bus: Look for buses to "Tsukuba Center" (つくばセンター) from Terminals 1, 2, or 3.
Journey: The bus takes about 2-2.5 hours to reach Tsukuba Center.
To University: From Tsukuba Center, take a local bus (like Tsukuba Daigaku Junkan Bus) or a taxi to the University of Tsukuba campus.

From Haneda Airport (HND)

Airport Bus: Take a bus to "Tsukuba Center" from the International Terminal or Terminals 1/2.
