The curriculum of the bachelor study programme “Optometry” is based on the content of the European Diploma in Optometry and in line with the basic knowledge and skills requirements of the optometric profession standard in Latvia. The bachelor programme is the first step in the professional optometrist education scheme in Latvia. The programme offers extensive profile studies of natural sciences including organic chemistry, biology, calculus, physics, medical courses including human anatomy and physiology, pathology, microbiology, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology of the eye, physiology of vision, specific courses in optometry – optics, geometrical optics, ophthalmic optics, optometric instruments, refractive defects, binocular vision and other. After graduation, students can continue their studies at the master’s level.
Extra Notes
A one-time payment for students from third countries outside the EU/EEA is to be paid in full together with the full-year tuition fee payable upon arrival. The deposit is intended for the coverage of possible immigration expenses and paid back upon request after graduation.
