The Department of Biological Sciences at Jeonbuk National University (CBNU) was established in 1975. For the following years, we have become one of the best Life Science Departments in Korea with core strengths in Systematics and Cell/Molecular Biology.

Now the department includes 9 faculty members, about 200 undergraduate students and 48 graduate students. The department provides an excellent programme for Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Master of Science (M.S.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). The faculty members are committed to providing educational and research experiences of the highest quality for undergraduate and graduate students. Each student will have an opportunity of developing a deeper understanding of biological processes at the various levels of molecules, cells, organisms and the environment. Our teaching and research laboratories have had major investment over recent years enabling us to provide excellent facilities for our students. In addition, various kinds of scholarships supported by funding from CBNU and Korean Government are available for international students.
