We study machine design, manufacturing processes, measurement and control, and energy generation and utilization. Students receive basic preparation in all of these areas. Through the graduate courses for M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, they may further specialize in one or more selected areas such as design and manufacturing of machine, automatic control system, mechatronics, MEMS, fluid machinery, internal combustion engine, refrigeration, heat power system, product integrity, CAD/CAM, manufacturing systems engineering, etc. The educational program in mechanical engineering prepares students for professional practice in an era of rapidly advancing technology. Mechanical engineering prepares students to enter industry, independent business, or government agencies. With these skills and broad training, mechanical engineers may work in automotive, material processing, heavy equipment, paper, plastics, power, aerospace, ship, chemical, electronics, and many other industries. Their work may involve research and development of new products, design of equipment or systems, supervision of production, plant engineering, administration, sales engineering, or testing of individual or complete plants.
