Therefore, JBNU Medical School has made great efforts to find effective and practical methods to help students not only adapt to change, but to actually be the driving forces in making positive change happen in medicine and the world. To achieve this goal, JBNU began a series of changes in 2002 including improvements in the curriculum and facilities. In 2006, the European-based six-year curriculum (2 years of pre-medical + 4 years of Medical School) was restructured into the current eight-year curriculum (4 years of undergraduate studies + 4 years of Medical School). This revolutionary transformation at JBNU Medical School is dedicated to providing medical students with the best possible curriculum, facilities, professors, and guidance. As a result, with more opportunities for students to participate in meaningful research and practical clinical experience, Jeonbuk National University Medical School is ready to become a global leader in medical education. Fundamental medical concepts are mastered, not by simply memorizing facts out of textbooks, but by hands-on, problem-based learning. The renovated laboratories in Medical Science Research Center help students to understand the human body, and the recently established Jeonbuk Medical Simulation (CMS) Center gives medical students a great opportunity to learn clinical skills more effectively. More medical practice is emphasized for medical students. To make the best use of each students’ specialty, many advanced elective courses are available. Advanced elective courses are designed to help students develop deeper understanding of specific subjects.
