Kookmin University’s School of Management Information Systems (MIS) is one of Korea’s leading MIS institutions, with its oldest history and vast alumni network. The Department of Information Management launched in 1984 as Korea’s first undergraduate program in the MIS field. The department continues to grow and develop as a specialized department representing Kookmin University; it was selected for various government support projects such as LINC+, CK-II, BK21+PLUS, and BK21 at the 4th stage, based on its excellent research performance and job creation record. Today’s 4th Industrial Revolution, triggered by the development of information and communication technology (ICT) and the advent of big data, requires convergent talents who can create innovative products and services based on an intrinsic understanding of information technology. Therefore, The School of Management Information Systems provides basic education on business administration and programming, as well as core technologies leading the 4th Industrial Revolution, including big data analysis, cloud, and Internet of Things (IoT), thereby fostering creative convergence talents who led change and innovation in our society. The School of MIS cultivates convergent talents with management and information technology expertise through systematic major education and produces creative leaders who will lead the digital age through various on-campus and off-campus activities. Graduates who have completed the School of MIS curriculum are entering various digital business fields and taking the lead in strengthening Korea’s ICT competitiveness through IT consulting, informalization planning, and strategy formulation, information system management and operation, and big data analysis and application. These graduates provide more opportunities for their juniors through various mentoring programs, creating a virtuous education cycle. The School of MIS currently operates under the single major system of the Management Information Major.
