The PhD in Ocean Energy Engineering is a research-intensive doctoral program dedicated to advancing technologies and engineering solutions for the sustainable generation and utilization of ocean-based renewable energy. The program provides opportunities for original research in areas such as offshore wind energy, wave and tidal energy systems, ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC), marine energy resource assessment, energy storage technologies, offshore structures, and sustainable energy integration. Doctoral candidates conduct advanced research aimed at improving the efficiency, reliability, economic viability, and environmental sustainability of ocean energy systems. Through rigorous experimentation, computational modeling, field investigations, and dissertation research, students contribute to the development of innovative technologies that support the global transition to clean and renewable energy sources. Graduates are prepared for leadership roles in academia, research institutions, renewable energy companies, offshore engineering firms, government agencies, and international organizations involved in sustainable energy development.
