Established in 1927, Montana State University Billings is the third-largest university in Billings, Montana. MSUB is renowned for its strong education and rehabilitation majors and offers over 160 programs to students aspiring to study in the USA.
MSUB saw a 2.3% increase in the total student enrollment for Fall 2018, which is the maximum increase seen in the last 4 years. Having an international student enrollment of 80 students from several countries, MSUB provides equal opportunities to international students as well.
The university has been working to address student needs and has therefore been able to raise more money for scholarships and cut down the housing cost to make the studies more affordable for the students. Scholarships
The University awards over 500 scholarships to its students in the form of book scholarships of 200 USD up to full tuition and fees. Overall the university commits around 1.65 million USD in terms of scholarships.
To be eligible to apply for a scholarship, a student must apply to the college or university first and then complete an application for a scholarship. More than 60% of students get financial aid in the form of grants, scholarships, work-study programs or student loans.
Following are a few prominent scholarships that are offered to international students:
Special Scholarships for International Students-
- Yellowstone Scholarships- These are awarded to students who have a minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate programs and 3.0 for graduate programs. An award of 1,000 USD per semester is awarded to the student. Interested applicants must apply for scholarships before November 1 for the Spring semester and March 1 for the Fall semester.
- Global Leadership Scholarships- 2 awards are awarded to the students. One to a student with financial need and the other to the one who helps promote internationalization efforts at MSUB. These scholarships are awarded to international students with a 3.0 GPA and with an F visa to the USA. Students must complete the scholarship application by February 1.
- Outside International Scholarships- International applicants can apply for external or private international scholarships awarded by private benefactors in the USA or their home country.
General Scholarships-
- MSU Billings Scholarships- These include various scholarships offered by MSUB. The award varies for these scholarships and depends on the student’s merit. The application opens on November 1. The priority deadline for the scholarship is February 1 every year while the general deadline is September 30.
