Established in 1874, the University of Adelaide is an open university, which is known to be the 3rd oldest university in Australia. In 1876, the university offered its first degree, Bachelor of Arts. Also, it is the first university to elect a woman in University Council, Australia. Moreover, the University of Adelaide is first in South Australia to promote anti-smoking agenda. This agenda allowed the security guards of the university to restrict smoking within the premises. The residential areas of the university were also made smoke-free.
The university comprises of 4 campuses of which North Terrace is the main campus. It is surrounded by the Art Gallery of South Australia. The campus is covered with greenery all over. Bonython Hall, which is a famous historic building, is located on the campus along with the Elder Hall, Mitchell Building, Ligertwood building, and Napier Building. All four campuses are situated close to restaurants and cafes, medical stores, and many other shops that provide basic necessities to the students. Also, the North Terrace campus includes accommodation for the students as well as faculty members. The campus also comprises of the famous Barr Smith Library.

Accerediations
Accomodation
The University has on-campus accommodation on Roseworthy campus only but collaborates with certain residential houses and provides them to the students for making their search easy.
- The University of Adelaide Village is the university managed largest student accommodation in the downtown area. The houses are four and five-bedroom accommodations and are fully furnished. Common fully equipped kitchens are also provided amongst other facilities like laundry, internet and TV connections, open spaces, etc.
- The cost of rentals with a shared bathroom is 13,520 AUD and with a private bathroom is 14,820 AUD for the current academic year.
- Mattaniah Student Residences are also university-owned student accommodation just five minutes away from the North Terrace campus. This place also has 4 and 5 bedroom apartments and is fully furnished with shared kitchen and laundry facilities. No private bathrooms are available and the cost is 12,840 AUD for the academic year.
- Roseworthy Residential College is available only to similarly named campus students. The air conditioned student residences can accommodate 179 people and are fully furnished. 39 weeks cost is 7,950 AUD and a security deposit of 500 AUD is taken.

The University’s career center helps students to enhance their skills and also in connecting with the employers.
- The center provides information for job postings and internships and also works to enhance employability skills by conducting Resume writing, Mock Interviews, and Career coaching.
- Online portals and virtual employment resources are provided to students to place their information and the employers can pick the suitable candidates.
- The university has a career hub whose membership is available to the students 12 months after completion of their courses.
Scholarships
As one of the oldest universities in Australia, the University of Adelaide has an educational experience of more than 140 years. In all these years, the university has time and again extended financial support to domestic and international students through the University of Adelaide scholarships, awards, and fellowships.
In the year 2019, the university offered scholarships worth 1,577,612 AUD to more than 500 international students. Of this total funding, 1,024,592 AUD were provided through the internal University of Adelaide scholarships, 435,016 AUD through donors (philanthropic, alumni, etc), and the remaining 118,000 through the Australian Government programs.
As per the university officials, the number of University of Adelaide scholarships and recipients is expected to increase in 2020 by at least 10%. Therefore, incoming international students, especially from countries like India, China, and Bangladesh, are encouraged to explore all the scholarships they are eligible to cover their financial expenses.

Coursework scholarship opportunities for incoming international students are majorly common for both undergraduate and graduate programs. These scholarships are awarded as tuition fee waivers, ranging from 5% to 50% reduction in course fees.

Applicants must note that no separate application form is required for undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships. University of Adelaide Scholarships for Research Students
International students commencing masters and doctoral research degree programs are awarded a combination of internal and external scholarships. Some of such University of Adelaide scholarships for international students are:
- Adelaide Scholarships International: Awarded strictly on the basis of academic merit to international students who have achieved an equivalent of an Australian Honours degree.
- Benefits: Stipend AUD 28,092, full tuition fees, relocation allowance, and overseas health cover (OSHC).
