Placement

  • A career centre is available at the university to aid students in seeking employment in Canada.
  • The institution pays for a subscription to the CareerLink service, which connects employers with potential employees.
  • The career centre hosts job fairs, courses and assists students in honing their employability skills.
  • Students can also receive individual counselling and guidance to help them find the correct career path.

Many of the programmes at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) “ladder” into one another, allowing students to keep their options open by earning a one-year certificate and/or a two-year diploma while working toward a complete degree. Other than that, one is provided with a co-operative education option, which allows students to combine studies with paid, supervised work experience in a diverse cultural environment.

Notes

UFV has campuses and locations in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, Hope and Agassiz, and a growing presence in Chandigarh, India.

Situated in the beautiful Fraser Valley in British Columbia, just a short drive away from the US border, UFV has mild weather, with less than 14 days of snow a year, stunning sights and beautiful west-coast rainforests.  One of Canada's most ethnically diverse regions, the Fraser Valley is, like cities across Canada, a safe and friendly place for international students to live and study.

Of UFV's total student population, approximately 9.5% are international, with 55 countries represented on campus and top student nationalities including Chinese, Indian, Saudi, Korean and Japanese.

UFV's Abbotsford campus has a math centre, career and advising centers, an indigenous student center, a student newspaper and radio. UFV's Chilliwack campus boasts a fully equipped dental clinic, a black box theatre, an EEG lab, an environmental chamber, a First Nations gathering place, a 783 square meter  barn with a livestock area and a 600 square meter greenhouse.

UFV's main strengths include its small class sizes (typically 25 to 36 students per classroom), experiential learning opportunities and affordable tuition fees.
