Accomodation

Find a place you can call home at Sussex. Check our Accommodation Guarantee to see if you can apply to live in University-managed housing or get advice on renting a room or house in the private sector.

We are investing in making our campus better through a programme of campus development. From transformative big builds to refurbishments across our existing estate, we are ensuring our iconic campus has the space and technology to help our students reach their potential.

Our exciting new West Slope development is the most significant build underway, with construction now taking place on campus. Whilst residents living on campus will be aware of our campus development work, for the vast majority it will not have any significant impact. However, some accommodation rooms will be impacted to a greater extent due to their proximity to construction works. If your room is assessed to be significantly impacted, you will be advised in advance and will be offered a rent rebate.

To see the location of our construction zone, view our campus map. More information about the expected impact on each residence is detailed on our accommodation pages and in our Accommodation Handbook.

Placement

A placement is a way to develop your skills in the workplace so that when you leave Sussex, you can go on to a range of roles.

Placements can help you:

  • get ahead of the competition. Employers are increasingly looking for relevant work experience for graduate jobs and schemes
  • explore career options before you graduate. You'll get an idea of the type of job or sector you might want to go into
  • gain industry and employability skills. Learn how to use software and equipment, or work on live projects. You'll also gain skills in team-working, communication and time management
  • develop your professional networks. You'll build a network of contacts for the future.
