Established in 1975 by Justin Kohlmann, Coast Mountain College is a renowned community institution. It was originally named Northwest Community College renamed as Coast Mountain College in 2018. With an acceptance rate of 85% per cent, international students from over 10 nationalities come to study at the college.

Coast Mountain College provides outstanding facilities on campus as well as for educational requirements that are also at an affordable cost to domestic and international students. Coast Mountain College provides programs in 6 different study areas like arts, business, and science, with a total of 33 programs at the Undergraduate and postgraduate level.. Student’s employment success is college success, college cares for the employment of students while or after studying in college. College provides jobs in 4 different sectors: common, government, specialized, and online company.

Description

  • The College provides accommodation to students
  • The Terrace campus has three, two-floor traditional residence buildings:
    • Skeena River
    • Copper River
    • Nass River
  • Each building is equipped with a shower room, a TV room, a kitchen area on each floor for light meal preparation
  • Kitchens include a large fridge and freezer, microwaves, stove, washers and dryers. All residents have access to free wireless Internet. Each room is equipped with a twin bed, study table, and wardrobe.
  • Accommodations are also available at the Smithers campus
    • The residence has 20 single occupancy beds with TV’s in each room, shared kitchen, dining hall, shared lounge area with TV, washer and dryer facility and semi-private washrooms.

Scholarships

There are many funding sources provided to students to complete education for International students at the Coast Mountain College, Canada. Few of them are listed below :

  • Alma VanDusen Fund- It assists full-time female students in financial need.
  • BC Hydro Award- 500 CADaward is available annually to a student enrolled in the university credit program. The award is given to the student who clears all the criteria and preference is given to female and Indigenous students.
  • BC Oil and Gas Commission Indigenous education award- Provides 1000 CAD to students enrolled in trades or arts or business.
  • Belyea, Collins, Ingledow bursary- Given to a student with good academic standing and is available to assist full course time.
  • Bill McLennan museum study grant- The grant is given to two students from the third year of the Freda Design program to study objects at the museum of anthropology.
  • Brian Lapston Bursary- 500 CAD bursary is awarded to recognize success in the first semester of the school year by a full-time fee-paying student who is having financial problems.
  • Student emergency bursaries: College is funding students in an emergency during a high time of need due to COVID-19 by making 40000 CAD available.
  • External awards and funding: These external awards are administered by agencies. Some of them are BC hockey scholarship, Aboriginal learning links, Ad standards scholarship, CAEL scholarships and LOUD scholarship.
