The Department of Japanese Language and Literature consists of four fields, which include Japanese Linguistics, Japanese Literature, Japan Studies, and Japanese Language Education. The students acquire extensive knowledge about these four subjects. The first phase of the curriculum helps them in order to correctly understand Japanese syntax, grammar, and have an advanced conversation level. The next phase of the curriculum is designed in order to enable the students to acquire knowledge about various genres that are related to Japanese culture and history in addition to general knowledge about Japanese society, economy, and culture. This is achieved through various courses, such as Japanese culture exchange with Korea, Japanese economic ties with Korea, and Japan and International society. The curriculum enables the students to collect various resources and information about Japan using their language skills by offering lectures about Japanese Media and Global Communications, which fits into the age of internationalization and informatization. A special feature of the curriculum includes sending all sophomores to study at Yokohama National University in Japan. This helps them acquire a comprehensive and direct understanding of the country, which assists with developing them into specialists about Japan.
