At Sussex, Music Technology focuses on creativity, innovation and research. Our course is geared towards the needs of the contemporary musician with an emphasis on being able to thrive in different professional and industry contexts.

You’ll be taught by composers, producers and music technology developers. The course combines studio recording, music production and electronic music with other creative work. This may include building instruments, designing audio-visual performance systems or creating sound for interactive games. There will be opportunities for you to attend master classes and workshops from experts in music technologies.
You’ll also benefit from our connections with The Rose Hill, an independent music venue and creative hub run by artists and musicians in Brighton and EMUTE, the Experimental Music Technologies Lab which offers skills workshops in programming and making. Outside the classroom, many of our students join bands and musical societies.
