This is an urgent time to study politics. There is a climate crisis. There’s a migration crisis. Corruption is creeping. Democracy is teetering.
At Sussex, you'll learn about fundamental crises that are unfolding across the world. You will study the circumstances creating them, the strategies to address them and the organisations working to solve them.
Our academics inform public policy at the highest levels of government. You'll be taught by politics experts at the forefront of public analysis and commentary. Throughout your studies, you'll have opportunities to:
attend communication and journalism masterclasses, and work-shadowing days with The Times’ Chief Political Correspondent, Aubrey Allegretti, our Political Writer-in-Residence
take political speech-writing masterclasses with Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ former adviser and speechwriter, Nick Garland
learn to analyse data
gain career-enhancing digital skills in our Digital or video accelerator programme.
Outside the classroom, there will be opportunities to question leading politicians through our student-run Politics and Debating Society. Previous speakers include Green Party MP Siân Berry and former Conservative MP Rory Stewart. You can also hear from our graduates about their careers in government, journalism and private enterprise. And there are trips abroad, including to Berlin, to meet politicians in the German Bundestag.
