Sociology is the scientific study of human society. As one of the core components of social science, sociology encompasses nine sub-disciplines in mainland China: Theoretical sociology, applied sociology, demography, anthropology, folklore, social policy, social work, social psychology, gerontology.
Recipients of a master’s degree in this discipline are expected to have a proficient grasp of sociological theoretical perspectives and research methods, be well-informed about the cutting-edge developments and trends within the field, and have the capability to engage in scientific research, social investigations, or public administration. Graduates should be qualified to undertake teaching and research work in educational and scientific research institutions, as well as management tasks in government agencies, public service units, business enterprises, and social organizations.
