Public administration provides an academic understanding of various social phenomena, centered on the state, and offers practical solutions. Therefore, aspiring public administration majors must possess a keen interest in the causal relationships and developmental processes of various social phenomena. Furthermore, they must possess the ability to foresee the broader society and the passion to take on the roles necessary for a rapidly changing society.
The 21st century is witnessing rapid changes in administrative practices due to globalization, localization, and informatization. To address these global shifts, the urgent task of organizing, rationalizing, and democratizing administrative systems is crucial. Established in 1985 to meet these pressing needs, the Department of Public Administration has strived to cultivate administrators with broad knowledge and continues to produce a large number of graduates.
The Public Administration major's curriculum broadly encompasses the liberal arts, electives, and specialized courses necessary to understand and explore administrative phenomena. It is designed to encompass the essential content for those preparing for a career in the civil service through the Higher Civil Service Examination. Furthermore, it provides a comprehensive introduction to the analysis, evaluation, and various techniques necessary for performing pivotal leadership roles in both the public and private sectors. Specific courses include Introduction to Public Administration, Organizational Theory, Policy Theory, Social Research Methodology, Local Administration, Urban Administration, Welfare Administration, and Fiscal Policy.
