As the transportation becomes an important national issue, the need to systematically educate the transportation related studies which had been opened in some classes at department of civil engineering in some of universities has grown rapidly. That is, to solve the problems in our daily lives like traffic congestion, accident, pollution, parking problems and etc., the demand for creative experts is growing, so to educate such talent to contribute to development of the national transportation, the department of transportation engineering has been established.

To more systematically educate the transportation professionals needed in the country, in 1992 the ‘Transportation School of Graduate’ was started as a department in the Industrial Technology Graduate School, and it has grown up to be the only transportation expertized graduate school and became the center of transportation professionals required by the industry, schools and researching institutes. Now, to develop and supply the best solutions to transportation problems matching rapidly changing transportation and technological environment, it established ‘Transportation Science and Technology Research Center’ and is contributing to the development of transportation of the country.
