Founded in 1987, our department is the only Spanish & Latin American Studies program at a flagship national university in Korea. We offer a curriculum that not only builds strong Spanish language skills but also deepens understanding of Spanish-speaking literature, culture, and the political, economic, and social landscapes of Latin America.
In today’s rapidly changing world of digital transformation and AI, global leaders need more than language skills—they need cultural insight, humanistic values, and critical perspectives. Our students gain exactly that: a holistic education that connects language with literature, culture, politics, economics, and society.
Spanish, spoken by over 500 million people worldwide, is a UN official language and the first foreign language in many countries. Mastering it gives our students a powerful global advantage. But beyond words, we nurture graduates who can truly understand, connect, and lead across cultures.
Our professors are active scholars and experts in Spanish linguistics, Latin American literature, and area studies, contributing to academia, policy, media, and society. Together, we are committed to preparing the next generation of global citizens—and we invite you to join us in shaping your future on the world stage.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
