The Master’s in Electrical Engineering at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) is a full-time graduate program that builds advanced knowledge and research skills in the broad field of electrical engineering, covering electricity, electronics, circuits, control, power systems, and electromagnetics. Electrical Engineering as a discipline relates to the study and application of electrical power, electronic systems, energy conversion, and the integration of these technologies with information, communication, and control systems, which are essential to modern high-tech industries. UESTC’s program is designed to cultivate graduates with a solid foundation in basic theories of electrical engineering, system expertise, and the ability to independently analyse and solve complex technical problems, while also developing an international perspective and competence in scientific research, engineering development, and technical innovation. The curriculum is usually structured around advanced coursework, research projects, and independent thesis work, with orientations such as Power System Analysis and Control, Power Transformation and Active Distribution Networks, Advanced Transmission and Conversion Technology, Intelligent Monitoring and Diagnosis of Electrical Equipment, Motor Systems and Control, and Power and Energy Economics that reflect both traditional electrical engineering and emerging smart energy trends. Master’s candidates complete required credits and research under faculty supervision, write and defend an original thesis, and — for international students — typically complete Chinese language and cultural requirements, including achieving at least HSK 3 level proficiency by graduation. Graduates are well prepared for careers or further academic research in power and energy systems, smart grids, electrical equipment design and diagnostics, control and automation of electric systems, and other areas central to electrical engineering and multidisciplinary technologies in energy and industry.
