The PhD in Mechanical Engineering prepares students for advanced research and innovation in fundamental and applied areas of mechanical science and engineering. Doctoral candidates build on a solid foundation of continuum mechanics, dynamics, material mechanics and system design and then specialise in areas such as mechanical design and theory, advanced manufacturing and automation, mechatronics, intelligent machinery, energy-efficient systems, robotics and precision engineering, depending on available faculty expertise and research interests.
