Engineering is a creative profession concerned with combining human, material, and economic resources to satisfy the needs of society. Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest and most versatile of the engineering professions. Mechanical engineering covers manufacturing processes and products, design of mechanical equipment and systems, mechanical measurement, and energy generation and utilization.Students receive basic preparation in all of these areas. Through the graduate courses, they may further specialize in one or more selected areas such as design and manufacturing of machine, automatic control system, mechatronics, fluid machinery, internal combustion engine, heat power system, product integrity, CAD/CAM, manufacturing systems engineering, etc. The educational program in mechanical engineering prepares students for professional practice in an era of rapidly advancing technology. Mechanical engineering prepares students for entering into industry, for doing independent business, or for working in government agencies. With these skills and broad training, mechanical engineers may work in automotive, material processing, heavy equipment, paper, plastics, power, aerospace, ship, chemical, electronics, or many other industries. Their work may involve research and development of new products, design of equipment or systems, supervision of production, plant engineering, administration, sales engineering, or testing.
