The Korean Language Course at Korea University in Seoul is an intensive, year-round program offered through the university’s Korean Language Center (KLC) that helps international learners build strong Korean language skills for daily communication, academic study, or professional goals. The course follows a four-term system (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) with each term running for about 10 weeks and typically consisting of 200 hours of classroom instruction (Monday–Friday, ~4 hours/day). Students are placed into Levels 1–6 based on a placement test, with balanced coverage of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and can choose between general, academic, or advanced tracks depending on their goals — for example, the academic track includes presentations, debates, report writing, and TOPIK preparation, while the advanced track focuses on professional and academic Korean beyond Level 6. The program also incorporates cultural activities and field experiences to deepen learners’ engagement with Korean life and supports D-4 student visa issuance for studies of six months or more. Classes are small (around 14 students) to maximize interaction and progression, and terms can be taken consecutively to advance from beginner to advanced proficiency.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
