The Economics program at Saitama University is a four-year undergraduate course offered by the Faculty of Economics, designed to give students a solid foundation in social sciences and equip them with the skills to think independently, analyze real-world economic issues, and propose solutions. In the first year, students take broad introductory courses before choosing one of four specialized majors — Economic Analysis, Global Business and Social Development, Business Innovation, and Law and Public Policy — each combining compulsory subjects, electives, seminars, and a compulsory graduation research project that develops deep analytical and research skills. Throughout the program, students study topics ranging from microeconomics and macroeconomics to international business, public policy, and innovation, and they acquire not just economic theory but also practical tools such as quantitative analysis and critical thinking. English-taught courses and global programs are available to enhance international competence, preparing graduates for careers in business, government, academia, and international organizations, as well as further study. Upon completion, students earn a Bachelor of Economics degree, having gained broad social-science knowledge, specialized expertise in their major, and the ability to identify and solve problems with a global perspective.
