The Humanities and Social Sciences education at Saitama University is offered mainly through its Faculty of Liberal Arts, which brings together a wide range of disciplines from both the humanities and the social sciences into a single, interdisciplinary undergraduate program. This curriculum is designed to help students build a broad foundation of knowledge and critical thinking skills by studying areas such as philosophy, history, international relations, social communication, cultural studies, and more, before focusing on a specific field of specialization in later years. First-year students take general introductory courses across these areas, and from the second year onward they choose among specialized tracks (such as global governance, contemporary society, philosophy and history, European and American culture, and Japanese/Asian culture) that guide deeper study in their chosen subject. The program emphasizes flexible, integrated thinking and aims to prepare graduates to understand and engage with complex societal and cultural issues from multiple perspectives. Upon graduation, students are equipped with both broad humanistic and social-scientific insights and specialized expertise that can support careers in education, public service, research, international fields, and beyond.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
