The Master’s in Comprehensive Transportation Science and Engineering at Dalian Maritime University (DMU) in Dalian, China is an academic graduate program within the Transportation Engineering discipline that integrates multidisciplinary knowledge across transportation systems to prepare students for advanced research and professional practice addressing modern transportation challenges. This program—offered under the Comprehensive Transportation Science and Engineering field and typically lasting three years of full‑time study—focuses on developing a solid understanding of the theoretical foundations, systemic planning, design, optimization, management and innovation of integrated transport systems, including land, sea and multimodal networks, while also encompassing logistics, traffic operations and intelligent transport technologies. Candidates receive rigorous training in transportation theory, system modeling, decision‑making and forecasting methods, transportation planning and operation, and data‑driven analysis, enabling them to conduct independent research and contribute to solutions for complex system‑level problems in transportation infrastructure, policy, logistics and coordination across modes. The program’s objective is to cultivate graduates who are capable of scientific research, engineering analysis, strategic planning and management in government agencies, transport and logistics enterprises, research institutions or academia, with an emphasis on innovation and interdisciplinary approaches that respond to national and global transportation development needs. Enrollment in this specialized field is competitive and may be administered through dedicated centers like DMU’s Comprehensive Transportation Collaborative Innovation Center, which supports research and education in integrated transportation technologies and systems.
