Inheriting the Special equipment specialty of the Air Force Engineering Department founded in Harbin Military Engineering College in 1952, part of the specialty was named Aeronautical Electrical Engineering Specialty in 1960, and the aeronautical Electrical Engineering specialty was moved to Northwestern Polytechnical University with the integration of the aviation Department in 1970, and was renamed Electrical Engineering Department in 2003. The major is characterized by aviation, aerospace and navigation, focusing on basic and forward-looking technical research in the field of electrical engineering, and is a key construction major of the national 211 Project and 985 project, corresponding to the first-level discipline of electrical engineering, with 2 national teaching teams and 1 innovation team.
