The curriculum builds a strong foundation in design thinking, visual communication, human factors, materials and manufacturing, prototyping and digital fabrication, and expands into areas such as interaction design, sustainable design, experience design, and entrepreneurial practice. Students learn through studio courses, workshops, and project-based learning, progressing from concept exploration to real-world application and industry collaboration. Cross-disciplinary exposure to engineering, business, and technology equips students with the ability to integrate aesthetics, usability, technical feasibility, and market needs into their design solutions.
Practical experience is emphasized throughout the program, including hands-on prototyping, internships with design firms and companies in the Greater Bay Area, participation in design competitions, and capstone design projects. Students also benefit from access to advanced fabrication labs and digital design tools that support rapid iteration and experimentation.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
