The Japanese major at Nanjing Normal University is an undergraduate program designed to develop students’ proficiency in the Japanese language as well as their understanding of Japanese culture, society, and literature. The curriculum emphasizes all four core language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—through structured courses in grammar, vocabulary, conversational practice, and language applications. Students also study Japanese literature, history, and cultural traditions to gain broader intercultural insight. Practical components such as language labs, media immersion, and exchange opportunities help build communicative confidence and real-world competence. Graduates are prepared for careers in international communication, translation and interpretation, education, tourism, business, and other fields that value strong Japanese language abilities and cross-cultural understanding.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
