Female Pedagogy at Nanjing Normal University is an undergraduate education program focused on the theory and practice of educating girls and women, as well as understanding gender dynamics within educational settings and society. The curriculum explores key areas such as gender and education theory, women’s development and empowerment, educational psychology with a focus on female learners, classroom strategies that support equity, and the history and sociology of women’s education. Students learn how social, cultural, and institutional factors influence girls’ and women’s educational experiences and outcomes, and how to design and implement teaching approaches that promote inclusive, supportive, and effective learning environments.
Through coursework and reflective practice, the program develops students’ skills in instructional planning, classroom communication, educational leadership, and gender‑responsive pedagogy. It also encourages critical analysis of educational policies and practices from a gender perspective. Graduates are prepared for careers in teaching, educational program development, counseling, gender advocacy and research, community education, and nonprofit or governmental roles focused on women’s development in education, as well as for advanced study in education, gender studies, and related social sciences.
