The Master’s in Transportation Planning & Management at Shanghai Maritime University is a three‑year graduate program (Master of Engineering) offered by the College of Transport & Communications that equips students with advanced knowledge and analytical skills needed to address complex challenges in modern transport systems. Rooted in a long‑established discipline that has been training postgraduate students since 1981 and recognized as a national key (cultivation) discipline in China, the program focuses on theories, methods, and technologies related to transport planning, policy analysis, logistics systems, port and shipping operations, and integrated multi‑modal transport networks. Students engage with subjects spanning transport economics, traffic management, system simulation, and sustainable planning while developing practical decision‑making abilities through case studies and research projects. The curriculum prepares graduates for careers in government agencies, transportation and logistics firms, urban and regional planning bodies, consulting organizations, and international institutions, where they can contribute to efficient, safe, and sustainable transportation development.
