The International Master’s Program in Earth Resources Engineering at Kyushu University is a two-year English-taught postgraduate program offered by the Graduate School of Engineering that focuses on developing advanced knowledge and research competencies in the exploration, extraction, and sustainable management of earth resources. The curriculum integrates specialised coursework and laboratory- and field-based research in areas such as mineralogy, geotechnical engineering, mining engineering, petroleum and natural gas engineering, environmental impact assessment, and resource sustainability, enabling students to analyse and optimise the extraction and utilisation of natural resources while addressing environmental and societal challenges. Emphasising computational modelling, experimental techniques, and interdisciplinary research methodologies, students undertake supervised academic research and complete a Master’s thesis that contributes to innovations in resource engineering, sustainable development, and environmental management, preparing graduates for careers in mining and petroleum industries, environmental consultancy, research institutions, and policy-making organisations.
