The Power Electronics and Power Drives program at Wuhan University of Technology is an engineering discipline focused on the theory, design and application of power electronic systems and electric drive technologies used to efficiently control and convert electrical energy in modern electrical and industrial systems. The curriculum combines core electrical engineering fundamentals—such as circuit theory, control systems, power electronics, electric machines and drives—with specialised study in converter topologies, motor control techniques, power semiconductor devices and energy-efficient drive systems. Through classroom instruction, laboratory practice and hands-on projects, students learn how to design and analyse power electronic converters, develop control strategies for motors and drives, and solve practical engineering problems in areas such as renewable energy systems, industrial automation, electric vehicles and smart grids. Graduates are prepared for careers in power systems design, industrial automation, electric vehicle and transportation electrification, energy conversion technologies, research and development, as well as for further advanced study in electrical engineering and related fields.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
